Domaine Evremond was created in 2015 when two close friends, Patrick McGrath MW and Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger agreed that they would establish a new English Sparkling Wine estate. Domaine Evremond has grown from an idea, to a plot of land, to a flourishing vineyards and now a dedicated state-of-the-art winery, that produces certified Quality English Sparkling Wine.

About us

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the winery is located at the heart of the estate. Built with sustainability at the fore, the majority of the winery is subterranean and provides a natural gravity-led winemaking process.

The estate consists of 125 hectares, of which 60 hectares is planted with vines. The rest of the land is made up of wild flower meadows, apple and pear orchards.

The design of the winery allows an uncompromising approach to quality winemaking, led by Chief de Cave for Taittinger, Alexandre Ponnavoy. Christelle Rinville, Vineyard Director for Taittinger works closely with the UK viticulture team of Mark Gaskain and Jason Streatfield who run the day-to-day vineyard operations. The management of the company is now overseen by the co-founders daughters: Vitalie Taittinger and India McGrath.

The Spirit of Domaine Evremond

The spirit of Domaine Evremond is firmly rooted in the friendship of Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and Patrick McGrath MW, France and England, but also taking inspiration from the historic friendship between Charles de Saint Évremond and King Charles II in the 1600s.

Charles de Saint Évremond was a French soldier, poet, essayist, literary critic and known hedonist. It is widely thought that he brought the sparkling wines of Champagne to the UK, where they were welcomed with open arms.

Pinot Meunier with a base vintage of 2020 (80%) alongside 20% from 2019. This blend’s proportions will be similar for the first few releases, with the percentage of Chardonnay increasing as the estate’s newer Chardonnay plots reach maturity.

PATRICK MCGRATH

How did you get started out in the industry?

My initial love of the wine industry came from an early beginning. My father worked in wine for many years and became a Master of Wine (MW). I started my days in retail in the old Victoria Wine shops as a sales assistant and eventually made it to head office buying which I loved - being introduced to so many producers and wines from far flung places. From there I got seduced by the world of Champagne and worked on Bollinger for 3 years where one of my claims to fame was signing up Ab Fab (sorry Taittinger!) However it was always the business side of wine that I had a huge interest in and in 1994 I set up Hatch Mansfield with Louis Jadot and Errazuriz. At that time we also represented Villa Maria and there were three of us working out of a shoe box office in Windsor. In 1998 we struck up a relationship with Taittinger and the rest, as they say, is history. Hatch Mansfield now employs 44 people and represents 16 top producers from around the world in the UK.
