Not just wine
Our winemakers are talented folk. In addition to making bottles of sensational (and award-winning) wines, did you know that many of Kent’s producers create and craft a whole selection of other tempting treats, inspired by the Garden of England’s bountiful landscape? From apple juice, to beer and cider, we’ve checked out some of our vineyard’s other creations for those (very rare) days when a glass of wine just won’t do.
Yes, our winemakers like to kick back with a cool beer in the sunshine just as much as anyone, that’s why they’ve created their own! Inspired by the art and techniques of winemaking, Chapel Down’s Curious Brew is a refreshing lager fermented with Champagne yeast– perfect for those sunny afternoons. Better still, a little birdie told us a certain Curious Brewery will be opening soon, so you can sip and sample your way through the range, from the Session IPA right through to the intriguing Curiouser and Curiouser sour ale. Speaking of curious, Hush Heath’s very own Jake’s Saffron Beer is actually brewed with Moroccan saffron! Pair this subtly hopped favourite with fish or curry for a fantastic Friday evening treat.
Cider lovers, we’ve got a few treats up our sleeve for you! Hush Heath’s Jakes Kentish Cider is a wonderful ode to Kent’s apple growing traditions. Made with hand-picked apples, expect pure apple flavour and a refreshing and clean finish. Did you know Biddenden Vineyards started life as an apple orchard? It therefore goes without saying that these guys know a think or two about cider! Whether you love your cider sweet, dry or sparkling, a taste of one of Biddenden’s ciders is an absolute must. Chapel Down’s Curious Apple is the perfect choice for a picnic pairing. Made with the finest Kentish apples, you’ll even find this delight in a cute little can, so you can enjoy it al-fresco this summer.
Amazing apple juice
You get the idea, we’re pretty proud of our fruit here in Kent, so it only follows that we make the most of it. With Luke’s Tree Pure Apple Juice, being the designated driver need never be a drag again. Pressed from fruit fresh from the Hush Heath Estate, this juice is made from nothing but Cox, Russet and Bramley apples so you can guarantee a rich and fresh taste. For a sophisticated twist, the Clearly Juice collection from Biddenden Vineyards makes for a perfect dinner party pairing. Choose from a whole host of apple varieties, each lending its own unique flavour and character.
Chapel Down are a talented bunch – take a sip of their Bacchus Gin and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to an English county garden, sun high in the sky. Infused with juniper, elderflower and orange peel, this delicious gin is only matched by their Pinot Noir Gin, with its delicate aromas of red berries and juniper, and before you ask, yes it is pink! But don’t worry, they haven’t stopped there as the team have also turned their hand to a Chardonnay Vodka and a unique, limited edition brandy. Oh the choices!
