The Wine Garden of England Mixed Case
The Wine Garden Of England Mixed Case is a selection of fine wines chosen by the winemakers to best represent their unique taste and style. By happy coincidence there are 3 sparkling and 3 still wines. You will be tasting an Ortega from Biddenden, a Chardonnay from Hush Heath and a red from Simpsons. A sparkling white from Chapel Down, a 2017 Brut from Squerryes and a Blanc de Blancs from Gusbourne. A mouth watering selection!

Balfour Springfield Chardonnay 2018
This fabulous Chardonnay from the superb 2018 vintage is clean and bright with a long finish, displaying the mineral notes of lime and salt. Fermented in cool stainless steel, it is then partly aged in French and American Oak to add depth and complexity to the flavour, resulting in an intense yet elegant wine.
Biddenden Ortega 2020
Biddenden’s signature variety, accounting for 50% of the vineyard, Ortega is an off dry, full-fruit white wine. Aromatic on the nose, displaying appealing fresh aromas of green apple, grapefruit, cut grass and flora, whilst the palate is medium bodied, crisp, characterful and deliciously fruity. Excellent served as an aperitif, this refreshing white would also pair well with lightly spiced dishes and simple seafood.
Simpsons Rabbit Hole Pinot Noir 2020
Exuding a true sense of place, this single vineyard, still Pinot Noir is created from fruit specifically selected for its maturity and concentration. This purple-hued wine displays dark cherry and smoky oak aromas, with hints of mocha. The elegant tannins are complimented by tangy, black fruit flavours and undertones of freshly ground coffee.
Chapel Down Three Graces 2016
Complex aromas of ripe apple, fresh red berries and toasted brioche are followed by a rich palate and generous finish. Great as an aperitif or an ideal accompaniment to grilled fish or risotto. The fruit is sourced from vineyards in Kent and East Sussex, grown on chalk and clay soils. A portion of the wine is from reserve, matured in oak barrels which adds depth and complexity to the palate. Maturation on fine lees in tank for six months before bottling and a minimum of three years of further ageing on lees in the bottle.
Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2016
Gusbourne have built a reputation for quality and style and the Blanc de Blancs most certainly reflects this. Pale golden in colour, with a fine mousse. The nose is full of ripe citrus, pink grapefruit and pear, with white floral notes. On the palate, the wine shows generous fruit flavours, highlighting ripe melon, nectarine and crunchy green apple with a flinty, saline minerality. Toasted brioche, shortbread and hazelnut notes build layers of complexity, adding to an elegance and energy that combine to create a beautiful example of Blanc de Blancs. The grapes were grown on a south facing vineyard near Appledore.
Squerryes Vintage Brut Reserve 2017
Squerryes are nestled just below London on the Kent/Surrey border and are the most northern of the vineyards of the Wine Garden of England. Specialising in sparkling wines, they have built a reputation for producing exceeding high quality fizz which bring joy. This is their signature wine. It has a fine, persistent mousse and a delightful nose of fresh apples, white peaches and a twist of grapefruit with jasmine floral notes. On the palate it is bursting with ripe red apples and peaches with an underlying creamy richness from the Pinot-dominated blend, and the classic Squerryes long fresh finish. A real crowd pleaser.
