The Wine Garden Mixed Case

The Wine Garden Of England Mixed Case is a selection of fine wines chosen by the winemakers to best represent their unique taste and style. By happy coincidence there are 3 sparkling and 3 still wines. You will be tasting an Ortega from Biddenden, a Chardonnay from Hush Heath and a Bacchus from Chapel Down. A sparkling rosé from Simpsons, a 2016 Brut from Squerryes and a Blanc de Blancs from Gusbourne. A mouth watering selection!

COMES IN 6 OR 12 BOTTLE CASES

Balfour Springfield Chardonnay 2018

This fabulous Chardonnay from the superb 2018 vintage is clean and bright with a long finish, displaying the mineral notes of lime and salt. Fermented in cool stainless steel, it is then partly aged in French and American Oak to add depth and complexity to the flavour, resulting in an intense yet elegant wine.

Biddenden Ortega 2018

Biddenden’s signature variety, accounting for 50% of the vineyard, Ortega is an off dry, full-fruit white wine.  Aromatic on the nose, displaying appealing fresh aromas of green apple, grapefruit, cut grass and flora, whilst the palate is medium bodied, crisp, characterful and deliciously fruity. Excellent served as an aperitif, this refreshing white would also pair well with lightly spiced dishes and simple seafood.

Chapel Down Kits Coty Estate Bacchus 2018

This very ripe style of Bacchus has lychee, peach, and ripe melon aromas with background oak influence. The palate is rich and generous with more tropical fruit flavours and a long, crisp finish. An ideal pairing to white crab meat salad, asparagus risotto and lightly smoked fish. Kit’s Coty vineyard is a 95 acre vineyard on the North Downs of Kent. The southerly aspect ensures the vines capture the sunshine all year long while the warm, free-draining chalk soils provide the perfect terroir for producing well balanced, intensely flavoured fruit. Restricting yields and maintaining vine balance allow vines to fulfil their potential, producing fruit that truly express their identity and the unique qualities of the soil.

Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2014

Gusbourne have built a reputation for quality and style and the Blanc de Blancs most certainly reflects this. Bright golden in colour, with aromas of preserved lemon, ripe pear and brioche. The palate is rich and elegant, with candied citrus, stone fruits and toasted hazelnuts. A complex wine with attractive mineral notes and long rounded finish. The grapes were grown on a south facing vineyard near Appledore. It has had a minimum of 42 months on the lees.

Simpsons Canterbury Rose Sparkling Rose 2018

This sparkling rosé is made in the traditional style and reflects the luxurious style that is Simpson’s trademark. Aged on the lees for 15 months, it has a fine mousse and a soft bouquet, reminiscent of rose petals and wild strawberries. A creamy, rounded texture is balanced with a crisp berry flavours and a refined finish. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir from the acclaimed chalk slopes of the North Downs.

Squerryes Vintage Brut Reserve 2016

Squerryes are nestled just below London on the Kent/Surrey border and are the most northern of the vineyards of the Wine Garden of England. Specialising in sparkling wines, they have built a reputation for producing exceeding high quality fizz which bring joy. The 2016 Brut has a real intensity of fruit with crisp orchard apples and pears, complemented by some light brioche notes and the characteristic long Squerryes finish. Great for drinking now but if you have a little patience will get better with age.
